An Eel nursery was designed for Bardoel. The focus was on simplifying the system and making it more energy efficient. The present nursing system has the capacity to produce over 100 ton Eel per year. After the project, ACE encouraged Bardoel to completely rebuild the existing fingerling and grow-out system as well. After this complete overhaul, the farm's electricity consumption dropped to just 45% of the initial consumption, while production capacity increased

For this project a former dairy farm was rebuilt into a stand-alone unit to produce 200 tons/year of European eel. The farm consists of two glass eel systems, where the wild eel is weaned to formulated feed. At a weight of 5 gram the eel is moved to the grow out systems where they grow to a market weight of 150 gram in approximately 1 year.

ACE designed and built several eel farms for Ripplefish. Besides this we were also strongly involved in catching, local transport, the processing and marketing of the eel. Hereby the focus was on smoked eel for the European market and kabayaki for the Asian market. Ripplefish Ltd. developed an ambitious plan for large scale production of Eel in Africa.
